Give agents a place in the auction.
Invite specialized agents into request and response decisions, with bounded time, limited data and policies for the changes they propose.

intent: BID_SHADE proposal: lower bid price policy: within allowed bounds
An agent proposes. The DSP applies policy.
Share the permitted context.
The host builds a limited-data envelope and calls configured agents in parallel within the available auction time.
Evaluate the proposal.
Stage-specific intents, canonical paths, conflict rules and payload limits constrain which mutations may be applied.
Continue the decision.
Accepted mutations update the DSP's private copy. Optional agent timeouts let the base auction continue.
Keep real-time assistance within bounds.
Add context before targeting.
Request-stage agents can propose supported changes such as segment activation, content IDs or deal suppression.
Constrain response shading.
Response-stage BID_SHADE proposals may lower a price under policy. They cannot raise it or take it below the permitted floor.
Budget time as well as money.
Per-call deadlines, health checks and circuit breakers keep external agent behavior visible to the host.
How is this different from an AdCP buyer agent?
AdCP manages the media-buy workflow. ARTF is an extension point inside an individual auction. An agent can plan a campaign through AdCP while a separate ARTF service assists a bid decision.
